Out and About

The area around Vieux Mirou is rich in interesting features: A rolling country landscape with an ever changing tapestry of fields according to the season and varying crops with plenty of oak woodland. The river Lot winds its way from the Causse de Quercy, a limestone plateau, westwards through the area towards the Gironde near Bordeaux.

The area is studded with medieval hilltop villages such as Lauzerte and Montaigu de Quercy, all of which have their individial charm.

To the north of the Lot are chestnut wooded hills as Quercy becomes Bouriane and Périgord before you meet the glorious scenery of the Dordogne, and many delightful towns including Sarlat, Domme and Bergerac.
The area is famed for production of the finest wines and food - Many of the wineries will be found towards the Lot valley and many are open for tastings and purchase of the famous Cahors AOC wines.

There will be a market (marché) somewhere nearby every morning - buy the finest produce direct from the producers and make up delicious picnics and barbecues.

Restaurants are plentiful with fine French cuisine available at very reasonable prices - try a 'Plat du jour' at midday!
