Activities
There are so many different activities that all the family will enjoy in this area and we would be only too happy to tell you about them! Please just ask.
Leisure Centres
There are leisure centres at Penne d'Agenais, Chateau Roge, near Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Tournon d'Agenais, Montcuq and Montaigu de Quercy where they have lakes, beaches, swings and play areas ideal for children. Often there is a restaurant too. There is also a children's farm at Belveze and two tree climbing parks with zip wires and rope ladders – wonderful fun.
Sport
For the more grown up there is horse riding, fishing, swimming, golf, walking, water skiing, tennis and a parachute school. Various local museums include a Foie Gras Museum and a Prune Museum. There are water sports and rock climbing in the Aveyron Gorge.
Night Markets
During the main holiday season, almost every night of the week, you can find a 'Marché Gourmand' where you can buy food from local producers and eat at tables with benches family style in a colourful local village square. There is always music. Try Dausse or Bourg-de-Visa on Tuesday, St Maurin or Pujols Wednesday, Lauzerte Thursday, Beauville Friday and Puymirol on Saturday, to name but a few.
Festivals
There are festivals of all sorts in this region – plants, music, festival de rire (laughing), jazz, song, blues, prunes and so on. The music festival on the 21st June has music in the streets all over the country. There are brocantes, antiques and bric-a-brac, car boot sales galore in July and August. Every Commune has its Fete for the inhabitants. It can be a Sardinard or Moules Frittes where everyone is served at long bench tables for a few euros.
More Information
We have more details about all these activities, dates and venues – please ask us or at the local shops, tourist offices and in the newspapers. The local Tourist Information Offices are also very helpful and speak English.
